Burger King, the world’s second largest burger chain bags another accomplishment to boast of. The chain now has 100 outlets across the country.
Burger King’s expansion
Burger King’s milestone outlet has opened up at the GT road in Jalandhar, Punjab. This flagship outlet is now India’s largest and lies close to Lovely Professional University (LPU) at Ludhiana-Jalandhar Highway.
Burger King’s journey in India is 3 year long. In a short span of time, it has expanded the footprint much faster than competing brands. The company made its entry to India back in 2014. With the first outlet at Saket, now the chain has 100 restaurants in operation across 28 cities in India.
Is Burger King set to replace McDonald’s?
With a fast paced expansion, Burger King seems to be aiming at replacing McDonald’s, which is already at bay. Crippled in the legal battle, McDonald’s had to close its 169 outlets giving clear advantage to its competitors such as Burger King.
Since McDonald’s outlets are closing down, it can lead to a large number of layoffs. With Burger King’s expansion strategy these employees could be absorbed directly into the new stores.
Burger King’s milestone outlet
The new outlet is spread across two floors with seating for up to 60 customers. Further, the Burger King’s milestone outlet also has a drive-through corner for customers who wish to place orders on the go.
It is interesting to note that India was also a global milestone to Burger King i.e. India was the 100th country where Burger King started its operations.
Rajeev Varman, CEO of Burger King India said “India is a unique market and we have consistently experimented with our menu to create offerings that are distinct from the global menu.”
“Crossing a landmark milestone is a humbling experience and it only pushes us further to ensure the best for our guests,” he added.
